Director Spike Lee (Malcom X, Do the Right Thing) has taken on the task of adapting a South Korean film of the same name, for a broader audience. Oldboy tells the story of Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin), a man who is imprisoned in solitary confinement for 20 years by an unknown man. After he is released for an unknown reason, he sets off to seek vengeance on those who have wronged him. That synopsis alone was enough to get me thinking about how great this film could be. I’m going to watch the South Korean film first, but you can count me in for watching this fascinating story unfold!
This film will be released on November 27, 2013 and is Rated R for strong brutal violence, disturbing images, some graphic sexuality and nudity, and language.
